Chapter 22

Chapter 22

A Chapter by Jemma Packman

Indigo sat in her office. Yeardleigh enters and says "Hey. I've been looking into those event planning places for you."
Indigo says "What you got?"
Yeardleigh passes Indigo a piece of paper. "I got a list of the ones that have been running for five years or less and are based within twenty miles."
"What are the columns?"
Yeardleigh walks around Indigo's desk, leans across and point at the paper. "No address. No contact number. Neither."
"That's good. But there's still how many here?"
"Forthy six."
"There must be a way to narrow this down."
"I can look further into them. Do you know if she owns it or she just works there?"
"I don't."
"Ok. I'll think of something."
Yeardleigh goes to leave. "Don't you need this?"
"No. That's your copy. I'm not doing all the work."
"Which column are you starting with?"
"Why?"
"Don't want to be chasing the same dead end."
"And that's why you're the boss."
"Why don't you start with the neither?"
"You giving me the hardest one?"
"I am the boss."
"I'll get right on it."
Yeardleigh leaves. "Come on Reuben."

The investigation is starting to narrow, which is interesting. I think such a short chapter might use some expansion. See my comments on previous chapters also.

You might change sat to sits for consistency in verb tense since you use present tense elsewhere.

I was a little puzzled by the mention of Reuben at the very last. Where has he been throughout the conversation?
