Chapter 15

Chapter 15

A Chapter by Jemma Packman

Yeardleigh sat at her desk. Moxie enters and says "How's your head?"
Yeardleigh says "As I am not blessed with the same anti-hangover gene you are, it's killing me."
Moxie drops a box of painkillers on Yeardleigh's desk. "That's why I brought you those."
"If you werw anyone else I'd kiss you."
Moxie sits on Yeardleigh's desk. "What's wrong with me?"
"How should I know? I'm studying to be a lawyer not a shrink."
"B***h. I brought you a gift."
"Why?"
"Thought you might need them."
"What are you up to?"
"Where's your boss?"
"Working. Why?"
"I've got something she may want to see."
"What?"
"I got a video of last night."
"Let me see."
"No."
"Why not?"
"If you can't remember, too bad."
"What happened last night?"
"You declared your undying love for me."
"Seriously, Mox, what happened?"
Indigo comes out of her office and says "Hello, Moxie."
Moxie says "Do you have a few minutes?"
"What for?"
"Summer."
"Come in."
Yeardleigh says "What do you want me to do?"
Moxie says "Take your gift and stay there."
"Boss?"
Indigo says "Are you here as a client?"
Moxie says "Will it keep her away from this?" Indigo nods. "Then yes I am."
"Ok. Come in."
Moxie and Indigo go into Indigo's office. Yeardleigh says "Why does she want me away from this?"

Inside Indigo's office. Moxie says "Look, I won't keep you long. I thought you should see this."
Indigo says "You mentioned Summer?"
Moxie passes Indigo her phone. "She's on here."
Indigo watches the video on the screen. "When did you take this? Where dod you take this?"
"Last night, at the club."
"Is that?"
"A picture of you on the video board? Yes."
"How long is this?"
"I don't know exactly. I was going through my footage and saw her. Guessed you'd want t see it."
"Can you send everything from last night to me?"
"Only if you don't Yeardleigh see any of it."
"Why not?"
"You'll understand when you see it. Please, don't let her see it."
"I won't."
Indigo hands Moxie her phone. "Where am I sending them?"
Indigo passes Moxie a card. "Email's on there."
Moxie takes the card. "I'll get everything to you as soon as I get home. Be easier sending these from my computer than from my phone."
"Thank you."
"You're not going to bill me for your time, are you?"
"No. I do pro bono work."
"I should find out what that means because it sounded dirty."
Moxie leaves. Yeardleigh enters and says "I know you can't give me details, but is she ok?"
Indigo says "She seems fine, but she's your friend. You'd know better than I would."
"I think I've done something wrong. She's being nice to me."
"You think you've done something wrong because she's being nice?"
"It's how we work. It might seem weird but we've always been like it."
"If you're worried, go after her."
"I can't."
"Why not?"
"I have work to do."
"Not today. You don't look well. Take the rest of the day."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. Go apologise. Or at least find out if you need to apologise."
"Thank you."
Yeardleigh leaves. "Now I wait."
