Chapter 12A Chapter by Jemma Packman
The next day, Indigo in her office sat at her desk when Iona enters and says "Where's your secretary?"
Indigo says "I gave mt assistant the morning off for helping." "Helping with what? Finding Summer?" "Yes." "Why can't you drop this?" "What is your problem?" "You don't know what you're getting into." "Do you know something?" "If this is Summer, why is she playing games? Why won't she just meet you?" "I don't know. That's why I'm going to find her first." "You're what?" "I made a deal with her. I find her by Friday, I can ask her." "What if you don't find her?" "Then I meet her at Aphrodites Friday night." "Alone?" "No. Priscilla will be there." "Well that makes all the difference." "So will Lexi and Gaz. I've thought this through." "I'm not sure you have. What if it's not her?" "Then I go to the police. I need to do this, Iona." "Why?" "I need answers. Whatever the outcome, I'll get an answer." "If it's not the answer you want, what then?" "Then I'll deal with it." "I'm worried about you. The last time I saw you like this was-" "That was different." "How?" "I know I've not got the best track record. Maybe I drive people away." "Don't be ridiculous. I can't see why you'd think that." "My problems started when Summer left me. If there's any possibility I can get some kind of closure doing this, I'm going to take it." "I can't change your mind?" "No." "I'll be there. What time?" "She sais she'd meet me at 9." "You'll be there for opening time?" "Only if I don't find her first." Iona stands up. "I still think this is a bad idea." "I'll take it under advisement." "And ignore it." "You know me so well." "Don't you forget it." Iona goes to leave. "You want to meet me for something to eat later?" "Will you try and convince me this is a bad idea some more?" "No. I may even try and help you." "I'll think about it." "I'll pay." "Sold. What time?" "I'll pick you up when I've finished work. I suppose you'll still be here?" "Who knows." "I'll call you. See you later." "Yes, you will." Iona leaves. "She's hiding something." © 2016 Jemma Packman |
