The next morning, Priscilla eating breakfast at her kitchen table. Indigo walks into the kitchen and says "Did you have to choose such a noisy breakfast?"
"Feeling delicate this morning?" "How are you not?" "I'm blessed." "I think I'm cursed." "Painkillers in the drawer." Indigo looks the painkillers. "You looked for that number?" "What number?" "The new number in you phone." Indigo takes the painkillers. "From last night? The one the the phone borrower put in there?" "Phone borrower?" "You don't remember?" "I've just woke up, my head is pounding and you're asking me questions." "Ok. Grab a coffee. You got your phone on you?" "Does it look like it?" "Chill. Where is it?" "In my pants pocket." "You sit down. I'll get it." Priscilla rushes off. Indigo pours a coffee and sits down at the table. "You're really excited about this." Priscilla shouts from the spare bedroom, "Yeah. This is like some kinda spy game." Priscilla comes back to the kitchen, passes Indigo her phone and sits down. "Look at your reminders." Indigo looks at ther phone. "Some weirdo has my number?" "They might not be a weirdo. They know Gaz." "My brother? Not helping." "I like the sound of him." "You would. I've got a text from Iona." "What she got to say for herself?" "Sorry she left early, she'll call later and if I find that number, delete it." "Jealous much?" "It's not like that." "Maybe not for you." "Stop it. What are all these other texts?" "You used Iona's phone to try and find yours." "Did we end up at a hen party?" "You searches one. Didn't find your phone but you did find a hen." "Then why am I here with you?" "You helped her tick off a challenge or two then sent her back." "Why?" "You thought you saw someone and spent the rest of the night wondering around." "Who was I looking for?" "No idea. So, new number in your contacts?" "Not yet." Indigo freezes and stares at her phone. "What's wrong?" "Did you do this?" "Do what?" Indigo shows Priscilla the screen. Summer-Rose is a contact. "Did you do it?" "I don't know how to use your phone and why would I?" "I don't know." "Could it be her?" "I don't know." "How many people know how cheesy your brother is?" "That I know? Not many. I try and keep my family at a distance." "One way to find out. Call it." "I can't." "I can." Priscilla grabs the phone, presses the screen and waits. "Which one's loudspeaker? Found it." Priscilla touches the screen and places the phone on the table. The phone rings twice before it's answered. An excited yet nervous voice comes from the phone. "That was fast." "Hi. Don't hang up, my name's Priscilla. I'm a friend of Indigo's. Is this Summer-Rose?" "Is Indigo there?" "She's here. She's hungover to hell and is being kinda a p***y about this." There is a chuckle from the phone. "I like you, but I need to know Indigo is there." "Say something." Indigo swallows the lump that has formed in her throat. "Summer, is that you?" There is a short silence before the voice speaks. "Meet me at Aphrodites next Friday at 9pm and find out." "No. I can't wait that long." "It's six days." "It's been seven years. If you really are her, you'll meet me today." "Pushy." "Today." The voice sighs. "Ok. When and where?" "You should know." Indigo hangs up. Priscilla says "Well?" "I couldn't tell." Indigo stands up and heads towards the spare bedroom. Priscilla grabs her arm to stop her. "What are you doing?" "I've gotta go." "Go where?" "We had a meeting place and time. I'm going there." "Where's that?" "I can't tell you." "You can and you will. I am not letting you meet whoever this is alone." "What if it is her?" "What if it's not?" "Ok you can come. But you stay back." "Sure. But will you do something for me?" "What?" "Shower and change your clothes. Don't want her thinking you hooked up when you didn't find her." "That's true." Indigo heads towards the bathroom. "But who would believe I'd hook up with you?" Indigo goes into the bathroom and closes the door. "What's wrong with me?" © 2016 Jemma PackmanReviews
