Chapter 31

Charlie, Shannon and Leigh walking down the corridor towards Charlie's apartment. Charlie says "She's not here." 

Leigh says "With any luck she's left town. Or the country." 

Charlie opens the door, lets Shannon in, and says "Stop it." 

Shannon says "Charlie!" 

Charlie rushes in and says "What's wrong?" Robbie is sat on the couch. "How did you get in?" 

Robbie says "The old guy across the hall let me in. 

Leigh shuts the door and says "Why?" 

Robbie says "He wondered why I was sat outside his apartment for nearly three hours." 

Charlie says "You said you'd wait." 

Robbie stands up and shouts "There's a limit, Charlie. There is a limit." 

Charlie says "Really? You're going to argue limits?" 

Shannon says "Leigh, who is that?" 

Leigh says "That is my sister, Roberta. Charlie's ex." 

Shannon says "I see. They usually like this?" 

Leigh says "Oh no. Roberta's usually louder." 

Robbie shouts "Shut up and stay out of this." 

Leigh says "Don't you talk to me like that." 

Robbie says "Why do you always have to get involved?" 

Charlie says "Enough. Robbie, you wanted to talk, so follow me. Leigh, get yourself a drink and calm down. Shannon?" 

Shannon says "I'm fine." 

Charlie says "Good. Robbie, come on." 

Robbie follows Charlie into Charlie's bedroom.
