Chapter 23

Outside of Lucas' room. Crystal stops and says "This is the room."

Shannon nods. Charlie says "Take as long as you need." Charlie turns to Crystal. "Can someone come get me when she's ready to leave?"

Crystal says "Sure. When you're ready, go to the nurses station and ask for Crystal, that's me, and I'll make sure Charlie is here for you."

Shannon says "You're not coming?"

Charlie says "No. This is your thing."

Leigh says "Charlie has to have X-rays."

Shannon says "X-rays?"

Crystal says "Procedure with head injuries."

Charlie says "No big deal."

Shannon says "You'll stay here though, in the hospital, you won't leave?"

Charlie says "Not without you."

Shannon says "I'd better go in. You'll be here when I'm done?"

Charlie says "As soon as you're ready."

Shannon half smiles and enters the room. Crystal says "Charlie, you ready?"

Charlie says "Can I eat first?"

Crystal says "You, with me now. Come on."

Charlie says "Yes, ma'am."

Leigh says "Will you take this seriously?"

Charlie and Leigh follow Crystal. As they pass the nurses station, no-one notices Yvette on the telephone. "It's me... she's here... nothing too serious as far as I know... I won't... see you soon. Bye."
