Good Bye My Friend

Good Bye My Friend

A Poem by Dream Slave
"

A piece about losing a friendship for the sake of making that other person grow and be your friend again. Happened to me when my friend became a junky. Tough Love

"
I have surpassed you in every way,
Not that I cared anyways,
I was just doing what I was taught,
Your demise secondary to my plot,
After looking up to you so long,
Realized it was all wrong,
Within me building was the rage,
Until the day turned the page,
Looking back I now know,
You were a minor part in this show,
For now the days when I stand tall,
After all you did to try to stall,
My seat in greatness already placed,
The challenges all already faced,
With shining colors I have passed,
Millions of emotions have amassed,
As I seat in my throne to see,
You are still lost in your fantasy,
Another victim of my device,
But let me give you some advice,
Find yourself and go away,
That's the only thing I say,
Fill that empty shell again,
Until that day goodbye my friend.

Dream Slave, you captured the true feelings of watch a friend/love one, slow march towards destruction. Having experienced first-hand corruptive influence of alcohol upon my brother, in cleaning up after him, twice. Wish I had an easy answer to addictions, but I don't. Hoping your friend has entered into rehab, to clean themselves up, because they want to. Not forced to do so. Thank you, for sharing this part of your past with us.
