Wishful Thinking

Wishful Thinking

A Poem by Jessica J

coded with an underlying expression,

your devious intent falls on deaf ears.

I am cornered and condemned without a rope to climb out

tight-lipped refrain generates this disregard and

your

spent.

you've lost your last dollar in the self-concept that you require

I ache for more while you continue to deny

expecting something beyond the casual and

continuing to promise more than you can conjure.

why couldn't you just continue to ignore?
