Cheese Cloth

Cheese Cloth

A Poem by Jessica J

My outer layer is a mask and hides all my dark

It’s like a sheath for my heart, a veil

I choose what permeates; cheese cloth with a valve

Without my permission, no entry is given

I close it off, shut you out, change the tune

Unbidden on my part, the valve broken it seems

Each piece permeates my veil and lands heavy

My sanctuary maintained, the outer field

Invaded, like a shell has been shot through

And each small piece comes unmanned

It pierces through, recognizing soul on soul

The cells quite similar so no war is waged

It’s like a reunion, bright music is played

Each cell remembering when it was once

One, each part remembering how to dance

My sanctuary agrees, letting soul commune with

Familiar. Through cheese cloth valve you marched

Unaware of my veil, my sheath…disregarding it.

Your soul knew the way, it spoke through the air

I have found you, my vessel’s match. The search is done.
