Into the Woods to PonderA Poem by Josie E. Cook M. A.Where do you go to think?Into the Woods to Ponder
She chased her memory from inside Her head as she took in the entrance To the black forest, Her eyes followed the paths Running down the trunks Of the Hickory and Oak trees As she approached a clear running Stream to the East, There was a smoke scent coming In from a distance On a light breeze as she sat down On a fallen tree trunk to rest And take in the water's scene She became so sleepy watching The water swirl and dance Around several large fallen Tree branches With a coursing pulse From another point in the creek A Maine Coon cat appeared out of Nowhere across from her Staring into the water too Lights rays through the trees Surrounded the cat's image Creating a rainbow on the water's Surface There was a hush all around her As one lone leaf fell into the water And floated away Then several seed pods followed To create many ripples in the serene Scene She stretched her arm and rose To continue her journey Startling the cat into the tall weeds She was alone again with her thoughts.--J.
