Ocean

Ocean

A Poem by JCerr
"

This is one of my drafts. Derived from my memories in the summer.

"

Ocean

Cold and blue

Sending icy chills from your spine to your toes

Swimming in the ocean

Is swimming in a pool of isolation

Hundreds of feet from the bottom

Always impossible to touch no matter how fast you swim

The ocean grabs you as you float on its rippling surface

It pulls you with it

In the direction of unknown

Sinking your ears beneath the drowning current

Time slows

Your body blurs from your mind

Your body slow but never completely still

The ocean fills your ears with the whistle of the unknown

You can think it’s scattered words

Like a puzzle you can solve

But no

That’s the music of the ocean

The music of the unknown

Never meant to be solved

Its the mysterious sounds in inner shells

It’s the unknown sound of the fish singing

It’s the question of the 95 percent that is still the “unknown”

That’s the isolation of the ocean

Grabbing your body and pulling it away

Away from the maze of your life

Away from the weight of your mind

Pulling you in all different directions

The direction of the ocean

Is the direction of unknown

Sending icy chills as a warning

That your life is only temporary

Until you step into the great blue
