Because I Don’t Sleep

Because I Don’t Sleep

A Poem by Joshua D'Arcy
"

We work hard to survive and to contribute to our families. Many of us, however, don’t really get the chance to rest or get time to ourselves. Having some down time is well-deserved and necessary.

"
Do you sleep?
It’s for the weary,
It’s for the weak,
After pay check,
Tireless work fulfilled,
After pay check,
Keep on it for the family,
For survival,
Not living on a fantasy.

Do you mean? I sleep?
It’s a difficult declaration,
Tireless work is where I keep,
Long nights at the station,
Not one to count sheep,
Several hours gone,
Do you mean? I sleep?

Should I answer?
Should I explain?
Because I don’t sleep,
You should, I should,
It’s not for the weak,
It’s key for the strong,
And I should sleep.
