Prayer

Prayer

A Poem by joshua sky

Hear my prayer O great Poet of Old!

Our fellowship has been broken too long.

Forgive me Lord, for in sin so bold,

I turned a deaf ear to Your song.

I yearn to come back and draw nigh unto Thee,

Your guidance I seek out of this far distant country.

For after all, You’ve not moved; I cast myself adrift

Eyes full of compromise not recognizing the shift.

My benevolence has waned,

As I’ve focused on myself.

I look on life with disdain

O how this heart needs melt!

May I heed the conviction

Set forth by Your Spirit

Rend my soul as I listen,

And not merely just hear it.

Take me back, oh my God!  This weary prodigal

For I wish to bask in the light of the supernatural and illogical.

I wish to hear You say good morning and hear You say good night,

I understand Your warnings, as I attempt to apprehend Your foresight.

You bathe me in beauty,

My righteousness--a scarlet robe.

Your still, small voice calls to me

As I’m back on that narrow road…

Amen.
