DenimA Poem by joshua sky(Intro) Durable dirigibles Are finally fashioned In the yards of Societal Evolutionaries, Revolutionaries, And great singers of selves… Malicious? No. Delicious? I’m afraid not. Capricious? Maybe so.
1 The snakes are in your eyes, Coiled up and ready to strike. Squishy terms of indifference Among the movement of the tongue. The pen that’s in your hand, Makes you feel you’re in command. But let me tell you this my friend, My legacy you’ll not end Like the phoenix I’ll begin again… I wear this denim blue, It’s easy for me to do, To step out into the morn, And cut three hundred acres of corn. 2 Light is dark and dark is light. Time can’t be held, though I try With all my might To stay ahead of the curve. The chrome reflects a true romance I’m livin’ by the seat of my pants. A truck stop in By South to I wear this denim blue, It’s easy for me to do. To step out into the cold, And eat up a thousand mile of road. 3 Into the silence I stare, A subterranean lair The copper hands of Lady Liberty Throwin’ gold back into my face. Desperate renditions resound, Vibrating through the ground. Songs of olden days, Caught in Minoan maze, Caught in modernistic haze. I wear this denim blue, It’s easy for me to do. To step through that dark door, And haul out sixteen ton of ore. I wear this denim blue, It’s easy for me to do. To walk this blessed land, Singin’ a song for the workin’ man. © 2014 joshua sky |
