the escapade

the escapade

A Poem by joshua deathdealer
"

07/2011

"
daylight crashes through my bedroom windows
slowly pouring over the messy arrangement
of hollow bottles and passed out friends
my aching head reminds me of the lights
and wonders of the steady night before
us talking about everything imaginable
the full moon lighting our escapade
shining on us frolicking, hand in hand
arriving and leaving, one scene to the next
flies by in frames, imprinting into memories
new twisted faces in these same gray places
looking to mix all our troubles unanimously
on a dance floor of collective misery
thinking that our agitations will evaporate from
the heat our bodies rubbing together
dance my darlings, we move to feel alive

This was really descriptive and nailed human emotion really well. Reminds me of some guys I knew in high school. "We move to feel alive"--don't we all. It's hard for me to review this well (due to my loner's code I don't have much experience with parties) but I do know this accurately portrays one. Even moreso, it portrays the dark mornings after them.

Wow...I love this. It has a sensual feel, and yet could be something more like a need to feel alive. A need to experience and to experience with others. Great ability to capture the motion and emotion with words. :)

OMG! i love the pic ;) the Rat Pack is awesome..I also love how you describe each little event and feeling as you wake. The emotion is so well communicated here and I can really feel everything in this.

Thank you for this, it brought back some memories I seemed to forgotten of a simpler time. It was a very visual and creative write.

A nice traverse into the subject of escapism, the kind of escapism that borders on addiction. I see that in this work, like a man or woman is dangerously close to that precipice, the one the dragon begs them to jump over.

Again, solid work as always.
