"
we are creatures of the dusk, unknowing of the subtle dawn
here you can find me, installed in my element
the night is ours, constantly on to the next one
we raise bottles to ancient, forgotten tidings
followed by hear hears and shots to the head
conversations erupt across layers of silence
where the hell have you been? bands, girls
                                    romances eternally lost, intoxication found
music blares, carrying us through with glee
                                                                       smoke spirals, laced with ideas
as we swing golf clubs at our frustrations
this is our convention of liberation
our show of connection with humanity
they say this might be the best years of our lives
in acknowledgment I fill our glasses with elevation
hereafter may we never sleep, washing the windows of our world

"they say this might be the best years of our lives"

i think this poem can be loaded with irony as well as it can be as true as your words are saying here Joshua! wonderfully written!

"the night is ours, constantly on to the next one" I love this line in particularly because it is true! The night is ours to do what we will and in the end we move on to the next one and the next one, in a forever pattern.. This was a really good poem and i greatly enjoyed it.
