down with the ice queen

down with the ice queen

A Poem by joshua deathdealer
"

06/2011

"
the snowflakes fall around me
cold sweat cleaves to my skin
my icy breath shows in the frigid air
my lungs ache from the inclemency

this numbing hyperbole is weighing me down
I have trod so far through this blizzard
climbing glaciers and dodging bullets
thrown from your guns that are trained against me

chilled to the bone is an understatement
my blood coagulates in your arctic realm
frost benumbs over frost, sticking to my face
blacken feet stings from this forbidden journey

but I am here to rain hell on your parade
to melt the icicles of your fraudulence
I will swelter down the castles you have built
in this tundra that you call your heart

I will have my revenge, fire and brimstone
I will leave you forgotten and desolate
fragments for my imagination to play with
claw at the walls of your regrets

Very well said Joshua. Sort of discribes Narnia in the clutches of that wicked Queen before she was cast out. But then I could be way off the mark and it simply discribes the pain you experianced in a past relationship. Then again it could be none of these and I am reading into it what is not there to be read. None the less a very well written poem my friend...!

"My blood coagulates in your arctic realm"....loved that line. Strong word choice all the way through, very vivid.

I love the assertive re-emergence of the narrator at the poem's conclusion. Very well written.

Nice twist... strong write. Love this stanza here a lot:
"but I am here to rain hell on your parade
to melt the icicles of your fraudulence
I will swelter down the castles you have built
in this tundra that you call your heart"

This is an amazing poem. The ice queen can be used to describe certain women who have built a wall around them and shrugged off people, keeping a mere distance from them. I have encountered this kind of people and inside, they are really scared of something. Maybe there is also revenge as you say. I have learned a lot from this. Hope to see you write more.

Great use of words you built up at the end, like a final wave to a sea! I know that didnt make sense -_-
This is a great poem :D
