Rows of chrysanthemums and tender shoots of grass are trampled into the damp reddish soil by the hooves of a hundred mounted men of arms.

Underneath banners of blue and yellow, malevolent evils bore witness to courage and determination most have forgotten or are unwilling to wield.

As knights of Her preeminent realm we have fought and died in the name of merit, dignity and honor.

Our sacred oaths held us gently within iatric arms while we've slept countless centuries as my Queen walked the winding passages of my dreams and Her soothing touch carried me towards an unknown fateful day.

Visions of the sun shining through Her auburn hair, caressed my wearied mind and reminded me to hold fast to my convictions and to keep the faith.

Now here we stand at the end of our earthly journey facing a massive web of trapped wraiths. Swirling, they move frantically.

Trying to find their way out of the entanglement spun by the bindings and prayers of true believers everywhere.

Understanding floods my soul. For now I know what all of our trials were for.

Looking back at my brothers and pointing my sword in line with the besieged, my steed rears up as my voice bellows throughout our ghostly ranks.

"With Gods favor the Queen wills it. Long live the Queen."

I loved reading this poem. Prose is your thing. There was great imagery and I loved the picture that went with the story. I really did feel the medieval times from it. I loved this poem. It's going in my favorites. I enjoyed the piece. Like I normally do with all your pieces. Thank you for sharing. :)

The final line rang so true to its time. Well spoken.

I love your poetic prose! I love your last paragraph, with your character paying homage to the queen, rather than to God- the soldiers' nationalism seems more honorable and stronger when presented in that light.
