Kindling

Kindling

A Poem by Josh Mattheu
"

A beautiful girl destroys everything around her in an attempt of display.

"
Her radiance truly was breathtaking; astonishing
Dressed in flaming garments she danced
Swinging her burning dress as she twirled
Stopping only to grow a little brighter
Off and away on the ball room floor
Her heated exoskeleton crushing the walls
Chandeliers plummeting from the melting ceiling
Now, it came time for her grand finale
Spitting sparks into their eyes
Igniting the onlooking crowd
In a restless fury, tossing napalm rampantly
Dancing on top of the ashes with blackened soles
Her act finished, she takes a bow
The audience burned to a raw crisp
She stands with arms pulled wide open,
Waiting for the flaming roses at her feet
I stand drenched in the hot dust of that crowd
My body painted in their gray remains
She turns with a confused set of blue eyes to me
I can only stare back, soot burying my grief
