A Walk Down the BeachA Poem by Josh MatteoJust spontaneous poetry, because I took a hiatus.I walk alone down the narrow strip that lies adjacent to the
beach Feeling the sand and salt whip my already dry face And observe the scenes that lay before me: An old couple conjoining their wrinkled hands in an ageless
embrace, A small sprouted flower lying in an isolated patch of grass Where a tiny humming bird courts its yellow lover amongst
the green, A small toddler nuzzling himself against his mother’s hip As she gently caresses his head and holds him close. And all of a sudden a thought occurs, “I wish you were here.” © 2012 Josh MatteoAuthor's Note
