Grins and FlowersA Poem by Josh MatteoIt's been a while, but just got reinspiredI apprehensively
approach with my tender two lips in hand, Hoping they won’t
break under the pressure against yours. But the more and more
I wait with side-peering eyes, Stealing what seems
more like art than just mere glances, The less I fear a
childlike response to trample the gifted petals. Though, for now I
think I’ll sit back and watch this unfurl. Because as the tulips
widen with every day the sun shines, Surely there’s no way
to crush such a genuine grin. © 2013 Josh Matteo |
