Anguish of Dawn

Anguish of Dawn

A Poem by Solitary_Streets

Anguish of Dawn

As I ran in midnight storms

searching for palaces with elegant shelter,

the roads so long and narrow slithered through

my unscathed breathes which drew roses and

cognizance through whispers of twilight.

I passed, as doves cried and roses crept,

they told me to keep quiet. Mustn't upset

peasants of the wild.

The rivers’ spine shifted, and broke.

My mind became the rivers spine, so sharp

and rusted through.

I made it down to the blond waterfall as it fell down

beneath the bend and sang through forests of unity.

The children laughed and sighed along, with nothing

on their minds but the glorious sunrise. They talked,

so serene.

Just as my eyes caught the light I lifted my head

and sighed along, my arms reached not to touch

the earth but to gaze upon her beauty in soft,

innocent cotton brains with misery lifted and dragged

into the woods, and replaced with madness of day

and night.

When I awoke, it was all gone.
