let the ink pour

let the ink pour

A Poem by Joshua
"

A poem about writing from the soul

"

pierce your soul

with a feathered quill.

rip meaning and structure

from its walls

and write.

o' my child write.

let the gift

given by the gods

coil you hand.

create sanctimonious scripture

in their name

and when your hand

fails you

let the ink pour

Did you really mean to use "sanctimonious?"

This is so true. Our inner critics have prevented so many great things from being created, and when they get in the way, sometimes they have to be ignored. I have to say, though, for a poem about writing freely, this one has a very satisfying flow. It doesn't feel like the product of just putting words on paper no matter what. If you just "let the ink flow" for this one, you have a great natural gift, because it feels intentional.
