Requiem for the Angels

Requiem for the Angels

A Poem by Jorge Martinez
"

For all the victims of childhood sexual abuse.

"

Ofertorium

This poem is dedicated to all the

victims of childhood sexual abuse.

Dies Irae

The Magnificent trumpets

of God

beckon the sinners

to atone in

eternal brine on the

grey and bitter

Day of Wrath.

Libera Me

Spare the innocent angels

who quake with fear,

and guide their path with

eternal light.

Lachrimosa

How cry the innocent angels

who opened their hearts.

Their trust betrayed, their

shadow souls to roam

Earth’s lonely Purgatory.

Agnus Dei

Lamb of God

hear their soulful cries

and give them peace.

Have mercy on the angels

who darkness now consume.

            Salva Me

And save the others,

innocents still,

who trust and love

that they may not languish on

the path of evil

and rancor and hate.

Requiem

and give them peace,

the innocent angels,

and give them peace.

Statistically, most people who, as prepubescent children, have sexual experiences with mature adults, aren't traumatized by it in the least. However, I know there is a minority of them who are deeply traumatized by it, so I'm curious: What exactly is it about the sexual abuse of prepubescent children which is so traumatic for that minority of prepubescent children who are genuinely traumatized by it. It's OK if you don't know. I'm just asking because I'm genuinely curious about the psychology of it.
