an untimely enemyA Poem by Jorge AldanaFather time
We must always know our enemies
And I'm sure you know and share mine. For I speak of no person But solely Father Time. An enemy that cannot be defeated Truly one-of-a-kind. Every 1st of the 1st we find ourselves a year older And not an hour richer. Losing focus of the good times Like we took a bad picture. Just like wine, if we're kept warm to the touch That's the way we'll age best. Funny how our most despised enemy Will forever remain nameless. No we cannot confront him So many try to run from him. You may have plenty of enemies But father time is above them. He'll watch you become old and gray While you sit think and wait. For your last day to unravel. Contemplating the day you'll put up your final battle. The more fun you have The quicker he'll pass. And you'll never catch up to him Like your stuck in the past. And, no, you wont last long in his never ending endeavor So live everyday like your last But learn from your mistake like you'd live forever. © 2015 Jorge AldanaAuthor's Note
