The Day The Sun Didn't Rise

The Day The Sun Didn't Rise

A Poem by jordan2092

Eyes are closing
Behind thin barrier they gaze
Ears clamor to listen
For the diminishing whispers
Of its final bequest
As it fell to uncertainty
It sank into the nebulous fissure
And as the fracture closed it descended
Slithering slowly into
Slumbering minds
Making cold all it touched
Staining in dark shades
Like ink being pored into water
Dream after dream, hope after hope
Skeletal remnants grasped at the sky
Professing a requiem for a fallen companion
When eyes shall open they will not be greeted
By the familiar sight of a friend long since departed
In darkness eyes will dart about
Confused by this sudden betrayal
This ominous change of heart
Which evoked such an opaque shade
Days which linger in gloom
Nights which revel in animosity
Sorrow will spread its wings
And veil the people
In cloths of uncertainty
Death will crawl about as
The scourge of humanity
In bondage gaunt white fingers
Will bind the bodies
In the desecrated sepulcher
Skin will writhe and bone will thrash about
People will remember this nefarious happening
As the day the sun didn’t rise.
