Clock watching is never good at any time but when your shaking I cant think of anything worse, time goes fast when you want it to stop and stops when you want it to speed up.
Its 09.30 half an hour to go a whole half an hour 30 long minutes before that lovely stuff passes over the counter into my grateful arms.
Right J come on get a grip think ok have a cigarette that will waste five minutes go to the bookies put a wee bet on by that time it will be 10.
Back thank god wasn't that bad really its 10.07 clock watching again I have 8 hours before they return ok relax sit down have a swig, its open my first gulp of the day I'm not sure if I like it or hate it when my whole body shakes after that first drink, whiskey is wicked but it certainly does the trick.
Half 10 jesus f*****g relax open a can you have hours before they get back open the can sit back and relax.
Famous grouse and special brew i feel great its only 12 you have ages my man get that can open my son the racing will be on soon.
Whats happening f**k its half 5 must have dozed off what happened in the racing s**t f**k will need to check the horses later clean up time get the empties into a bag stick them in the shed no time for special manoeuvres now.
Still time for one more can this is when time goes faster than the speed of light f*****g time never on my side.
Here they come bang on time the front door swings open jacket and shoes thrown on the floor and straight upstairs I do ask if he had a good day at school but I'm ignored the playstation awaits. Please don't ask questions but I know they are coming Have you eaten today she asks (here we go) Yes I had some soup i lie (I did have soup but I think that was on Saturday) Had a drink today (you know I have why are you asking i need one right now) Yes I have had a couple of cans(and about half a bottle of grouse) I need to get to my stash right now please go upstairs have a shower anything just need to get to my stash. I have a couple of cans hidden but they will have to wait until everyone is sleeping I also have several miniatures hidden which can be downed right away. There is one in my shoe at the front door one down the side of the couch and one in the toilet that should do until they go to bed. This is now it's not fun it's a nightmare but it was fun once great fun. I started drinking at about 9 my mother would have parties almost every weekend and I would take drinks from the cans left at the side of the couch or in the kitchen. The people there were mostly made up of my uncle and his friends at the time they were skinheads they were a tough group in the area and all crazy in their own way.One of them Bongo became one of my best friends and still is today. We lived in a multi storey and the parties would kick off when my dad went out to the pub as soon as he left my mum would flick the light on and off and that was the all clear signal.I remember waking up in the morning and having to step over people to turn the tv on.One particular morning one of the skinheads went into my parents room thinking it was my uncle lying in bed and started jumping on the bed Dr Martin's on and all however it was my dad who went nuts you could him running down the stairs right to the ground floor. The parties eventually stopped as my mother would start going out at the weekend by this time my parents had seperated.Every Saturday when my mum went out my uncle and his mate would come to the house with their carry out. My uncle Teddy was the youngest of my mum's brothers, she had 3 and he was one of the leaders of his skinhead gang a good guy but had a short fuse which got him into trouble a few times. After finishing work one day he went for a few drinks then decided to get the bus home,on the bus was one of his friends who lived a few doors away from him,he had also just finished work and had his toolbag with him.Teddy went into the bag and took out a hammer and chisel and began hammering at the bus floor, when arrested he told the police he just wanted to see if any of his mates were sitting downstairs. He served 2 weeks in Saughton prison.
Apart from being a fighter Teddy also had a bit of a cruel streak when growing up he had a variety of pets which were all pretty much tortured at one point or another,he fed whiskey (no less)to his frogs just to see their tongues fly out,he gave his tortoise a backy on his pushbike which fell off and died,he put my hamster on the record player and kept turning the speed up until it flew across the room,a mouse got pinged off a washing line and landed on top of my grandmothers house.
The cruelty didn't just stop at animals either one Saturday night at mine he arrived with his usual mate and had another guy with him, this guy was the younger brother of the tool man from the bus but was a bit simple or not quite there, there were rumours of him spying on his own sister in the shower and in the local pub he finished his pint stood up launched the glass at the wall and walked out.In the morning they continued drinking and were having a carry on playing music like elvis and dancing,Teddy took a newspaper to the toilet and took a s**t on it then told this guy to get up and dance put the s****y paper on the guys seat he didn't see it I didn't even see it and he sat down right on top of it,Teddy then puts a record on and tells him to get up and dance well he did and the newspaper was stuck to his jeans what made it worse or funnier from our point was that he asked if anyone had farted as he was dancing away it eventually fell off and he put his hand right in it Teddy blamed the dog it was always shiting in the house there was no dog even there we didn't have a dog the guy washed his jeans and tried to dry them with a hairdryer. This guy had also missed work in a nearby supermarket so Teddy being such a good mate told the guy he would phone in for him to say he was sick he didn't lie he did phone in but rather than say he was sick he told the manager to stick his job up his arse the guy went in the following day and was sacked.
Then there was Sprout the middle of the brothers and almost the complete opposite to Teddy he was a bit mental but unlike his younger brother he was a good natured guy and liked a laugh more than a fight. He got married at 23 to a very nice woman and they started a family.Just after getting serious with this girl Sprout moved into her parents house they were a nice quiet family and had never been in any kind of trouble ever, the Saturday after moving in Sprout and Teddy went into town for a few pints on the way home they went into a chippie and Teddy just exploded he destroyed the place I think the owners are still looking for him,the next day Sprouts lying in bed at his soon to be in laws when theres a bang at the door he hadn't been there a week and the police were at the house.
Sprout almost got into trouble again this time with his new wife she came to our house and was very worried she told us that he had been selling dope in the pub and he hadn't come home,he was eventually found at his best mates house where they had both fell through the door and slept where they lay the explanation with regards to the dope selling was verified they had been in town and decided to return to the local pub next door to the pub was a run down disused garage and they thought it would be a good idea to go in they ended up play fighting and were rolling around in all the sludge and s**t Sprout picked up a large padlock and a bit of old rope and off to the pub they went he ordered their drinks tried to pay with the padlock and started asking everyone in the place if they wanted to buy some rope.
Life seemed great at the time I was doing nothing at school if I bothered turning up and had started getting carry outs with my own mates we had some very good laughs just doing stupid things teenagers do.
