Seeking strength part 2 Training is about to get underway

"

I hadn’t noticed that while my mouth was wide open the damned moth flew in, and I accidentally swallowed it, but I managed to squeak one last thing before Master Stuhl went to bed and that was, “I forgot to tell you, my name is Gale.”

Amazingly enough in less than five seconds the man had fallen asleep. I sighed and resolved to tell him my name when training began the following day. I turned off the bright sun-mini and then doused the fire. There was nowhere to slumber save for the rocking chair Stuhl owned and the hard wood floor. I chose the latter.

I lay down on the floor, and for some time I glared at the ceiling, allowing a torrent of thoughts to flood my consciousness.  I thought of what kind of man this Stuhl was, what kind of future awaited me along his side, I wondered if he truly was the person that could teach me. I sighed again into the dark oblivion; I was vexed with more troubles than any ten year old needed.

Somehow, whether by shear fate or luck I too began my dissent into the land of slumber.  I saw visions of myself along side my father, we sat next to each other at the shore of some lake, our fishing poles immersed in the blue-green placid body of water. The crisp cool air, the cotton candy clouds, and the descending sun seemed to hint at the end of a perfect day. At last I’d managed to attain a state of serenity that was until I was rudely shaken awake by Master Stuhl. “Huh? What?” I babbled, rubbing the goofy sleepy look from my face.

“Get up, off the floor, today is your first day as my apprentice!” he stated enthusiastically.

I stretched my arms a bit and then got to my feet without much delay. “Alright! I’m ready! What are we doing first? Sparring? Push-ups? Meditation? Oh, and what about breakfast?”

His eyes widened immensely, a whisper of a smile seemed to touch his mouth, and a deep, grumbling, grunt escaped him. All of this coupled together seemed to tell me he was surprised at my enthusiasm, and he wasn’t the only one, I was too.  “Follow me”, was all he said as he walked out of the only entrance/exit of the hut.

Navigating through the hut was a bit difficult, there was minimal visibility. I’d assumed Stuhl had already placed his sun-mini outside to soak up some sunshine in order to use later. For a moment or two I could not tell where Stuhl had gone but when the door outside was opened a fragment of light wandered into the abode, allowing me to easily follow behind Stuhl. The venerable geezer was already heading south from the hut at a moderately fast pace, but not one that was difficult to catch up to. I shut the door behind me and hastened to Master Stuhl’s side.

There were tons of little houses to the left and right of us, each only showered slightly in the warming rays of the sun. It was still quite early, to me it seemed aside from the birds, we were the only ones up. Nestled safely in their nests in the towering oak trees, the larks sang. I hadn’t noticed all the trees when I’d came through here the other day, but it was truly magnificent. Trees huddled together, showcasing their jade leaves, thick trunks, and sweet scented existence. Despite the earliness of day a few creatures could be seen beginning their day, such as the laborious squirrel. He dashed from tree to tree and branch to branch, hunting the most delectable hazel acorns to consume over the frighteningly close winter.

My nostrils tingled at the shear quality of air in this domain. I could easily state my eyes gorged upon the images of playful wildlife, my ears consumed all the cute woodland cries and murmurs, the worries of yesterday seemed to flee at my experience in this, the home of homes, nature. However, the tranquility didn’t last long, see my stomach decided to take part in the gleeful symphony of creatures and uttered a cacophonous “GRRRRRRUMBLLLLLEEE!”

“Hahaha, hungry there eh?” the Blade Guru inquired.

“Yeah, but I always find it better to accomplish a little work before indulging in a meal,” I answered.

“Is that so? That is what I think as well. Meat tastes fresher, water cooler, and sweets sweeter when the spirit’s had a feeling of achievement to dine on first. Don’t worry either, today we’ll be taking it easy.”

“Sounds good to me, but what can we do all the way out here?” I replied.

“Today is simply about acquiring a significant piece of information for both you and I. The task you’ll be given may, or may not be difficult to you, depending on a certain something. It is important that once we arrive at our destination you listen to my directions completely and ask questions if you are confused. Do you understand Gale?”

I like how this chapter expanded slightly on Gale's father. It didn't give away his whole past, but just enough to keep the reader wondering. So his dad and he had peace, before he was killed. It makes the reader wonder what caused this abrupt change. I'm sitting on the edge, wondering Gale's past. You've done a great job on the setup so far.

I've also noticed that Gale is extremely mature for a ten year old. This was probably done purposely, since all that he's been through must have had a toll on him. I curious, though, as to whether a part of his kid self will come out.

Besides the setup, and Gale, I've liked Blade Guru's character development. There's still missing shades that the reader doesn't see, but what you've presented about Guru so far makes the reader trust him slightly. Not completely, but enough to think he's going to be able to help Gale with his goal. The Guru seems like a very patient, and important character and you've developed him terrifically.

Great job on this chapter, I eager to read the next~

Okay, let's see here... I did see one thing that you could've done. Whenever someone starts talking, you should start a new paragraph. Ex:

I stretched my arms a bit and then got to my feet without much delay.
"Alright! I'm ready! What are we doing first? Sparring? Push-ups? Meditation? Oh, and what about breakfast?"

His eyes widened immensely, a whisper of a smile seemed to touch his mouth, and a deep, grumbling, grunt escaped him. All of this coupled together seemed to tell me he was surprised at my enthusiasm, and he wasn't the only one, I was too.
"Follow me", was all he said as he walked out of the only entrance/exit of the hut.

It's a lot easier on the reader's eyes this way. Please, do not take this personally. I'm just being a little bit critical. Besides that, your chapter is awesome! Very well written, greatly detailed and descriptive!
Are you going to make another chapter? I'm sure it'd be very interesting! :D
