The RiverA Poem by Jon WesleyThe past will always be the past and leaving the past behind can be scary. The uncertainty of the future sometimes makes you skeptical to take a leap forward but in the end, it's worth it.I sat down by the river Watching the stream pass me by My memories are sweet and bitter But they were the best times of my life Now I start to wonder, what’s on the other side Hearing loud roars of thunder, there’s no place hide I look to the other side of the river, where the sun shines The storm is quickly approaching, I don’t want to leave things behind I can’t get the thought of the other side of the river off my mind Hearing strikes of lightning, I look back with a sigh There’s a storm on the east side of the river, the west side is so bright Drenched in sky’s water, I decide I should give up the fight I think about what’s ahead of me, and what will be left behind It took thunder and lightning, to finally make me realize I need to cross the river, and start the next chapter of my life.© 2015 Jon Wesley |
