My Light

In the darkest of nights,
Or even my darkest hours
When I need help
I turn to you.

When I need some inspiration
I turn to see the diamonds you call eyes
Always sparkling like the stars in the sky,
Shining even on the brightest day

My Light, I know not a soul
The way I know you,
But to know you at all
Is a gift from the heavens

My love for you,
Is a curse and burden
Though I know it can never be,
I love you and always will
No matter how great the burden.

I love this and I think it's not corny at all! I know how it feels to have deep feelings for someone that seems to not be interested or whatever. Believe me dude, I know what you're feeling! Ha. I dated a guy once for five months and we broke up together( both decided to) and I found out that he liked my best friend the whole time. I was so heart-broken since he was the guy of my dreams. It literally took me about two years to get over him. But I can tell that this is from your heart and your emotions are captured very well! Again, excellent job! :D

Nicely written, at first I thought it was a religious poem but as I read it I became aware that this is a love poem. Did you get a good response from her, or did she pretty much (Figuratively speaking) pat you on the head and say "Let's be friends" and go chase some other guys?

She'll go to you for comfort and companionship, but never anything deeper while she goes for the bad guys for sex and excitement. You should show her that you have a spine and you won't waste time playing the "Teddy Bear" for her. If she keeps doing that, just ditch her. It'll be less painful for you. We've got a difficult relationship but I know the feelings are there in them too... they just don't want to let them out and I don't need to worry about other guys... that's a completely different situation
