if sleeping is dreaming and dreaming is youA Poem by Jon Sandersa poem i wrote.
if sleeping is dreaming and dreaming is you I loved her… and I love her still, but my hunger’ll never fill I’ve heard a man can go three weeks without food; so I never worry And, to tell you the truth, I’ve never truly starved I’m optimistic… but in my hands there’s an empty cup I’m trying to drink from And I’d be lying to say that it’s partially full, but I’ll try… And plus, I’ve heard a man can go three days without liquid of any kind But when I tried to lie, all that I’ve said were words of you Confessing my love’s not what I wanted, but it’s all that I’m able to do Closing my mouth and holding my breath because I can’t go a minute… without speaking of you You know, I’ve heard a man can go three minutes without breathing Well, I hope that’s somewhat true But I’m tired and scared… to dream anymore- to dream anymore of these damn untruths I’m lying alive. While lying, I lie just lying here thinking of you As no one really knows how many days without sleep a person can really do But I hope I never sleep ever again… if sleeping is dreaming and dreaming is you… © 2008 Jon SandersAuthor's Note
