The Invitation

The Invitation

A Poem by JD Sutter
"

Luke 14:16-24

"

The Master sent out an invitation
For He wanted them to come.
But each one offered an excuse
And chose to remain at home.

The first had bought a plot of land
Another five pair of oxen
The third replied “I have just been wed,
I must beg the Master’s pardon.”

Jesus still extends an invitation
He offers it to all today
What will you do with His offer?
Accept it or turn it away?

I have accepted His invitation
Now I have a task to do
I must go and compel them to come
And give others His invitation too.

This sort of reminds me of Johnny Cash's song "When The Man Comes Around." It's ominous and forthright and spells a tremendous task. Great storytelling here.
