One evening shortly after the death of a very close friend of my family, I was thinking about the shortness of life. I was struck by the stark frailty of our human existence.
like a vapor, here and then gone
a sudden sigh, now one's passed on
life is so fragile, a smoky wisp
a passing shadow, an ocean's mist
turn of a page, blink of an eye
a drop in a pool, a flash 'cross the sky
only an instant, then they are through
gone so soon, like the kiss of dew
yeah, the imagery is beautiful. this is a bittersweet poem, i think, because it combines the sadness of the shortness of life along with a sense of reverence and love for that life. i think it really shows that this was inpired by something very deep and genuine, because it is so heartfelt, and i appreciate that you shared the surrounding circumstances with us. it makes it that much more meaningful. good job :)
this says so much in so few words - yet those words are packed with heartfelt emotion. I loved the brevity of life compared with the morning dew - so quickly gone. we do so often get caught up in the day to day and fail to appreciate all that we've been given. great write!

I love the imagery and the similes in this piece. The rhyme scheme is simple and I like it. I think it's short but full of strong emotions on your view of death. I share them too.
You really have captured how fragile life is.......... A blink of an eye, kiss of dew, vapour, and felt this was very much mingled into nature and our earth.
Beautifully written and captivating in imagary.
Where to start?...
Well firstly, I love reading and writing; I always have. Aside from my poetry, I also write articles for my church's newsletter that focus on issues that Christians face in life... more..
