Lingua est Artis - Slip

Lingua est Artis - Slip

A Poem by Jon Gary Frost
"

A celebration of the word "slip" in haiku form.

"

Slip, slip, slipping, slipped.

Tragedy and comedy

wrapped into one word.

A banana peel,

or the journey to madness,

or a simple knot.

How you change into

something more comfortable.

A lovely nights end.

Or the verb used for

medical purgatory

the comatose state.

Or a noun, even.

After a day on the lake

where you put your boat.

I adore this word.

so complex, yet so simple.

Lingua est artis.

Interesting rhythm and I love the first line, almost literally slipping us into the poem (sorry, couldn't resist). I read this as a playful poem, having fun with words themselves for the sake of their beauty. Very enjoyable.

I very entertaining piece! I loved how you used the word slip in its various forms and managed to compose haikus out of it...very creative and memorable. :] What does "Lingua est artis" mean, by the way?
