Longing's SonnetA Poem by Jon Gary FrostA response to a friendly challenge (a haiku for a sonnet). She comes forth to me in wine and roses
as intoxicating as brandy wine.
She taunts my heart with imagined poses
not so much her intention as ‘tis mine.
How maddening to be in her clutches
when of me she is not even aware.
My princess, queen, my hearts sovereign duchess
from her not more than a moribund stare.
But alas, what a bittersweet aching
when away with her true love she’s taking. © 2009 Jon Gary FrostAuthor's Note
