Longing's Sonnet

Longing's Sonnet

A Poem by Jon Gary Frost
"

A response to a friendly challenge (a haiku for a sonnet).

"

She comes forth to me in wine and roses

as intoxicating as brandy wine.

She taunts my heart with imagined poses

not so much her intention as ‘tis mine.

How maddening to be in her clutches

when of me she is not even aware.

My princess, queen, my hearts sovereign duchess

from her not more than a moribund stare.

But alas, what a bittersweet aching

when away with her true love she’s taking.

I stepped out of my comfort zone on this one. Tried to go old-school sonnet....thoughts???

a little bit much with the mush factor, but otherwise the structure is good. I like the tone but the lack of imagery is apparent. All around a good first step out of your comfort zone, don't think i could have done much better.
