Dream of a Champion

Dream of a Champion

A Poem by That_Guy
"

You're as good as you want to be.

"
Winning is simply what I do best,
I'm just naturally better that the rest,
They practice, train, and nearly kill themselves,
While I continue to stack trophies on my shelf.

It's not overconfident when it's true,
I'm actually that much better than you,
No matter how hard you try,
For me it's easy as pie.

Gold is the only color that I see,
The top of the podium is where I'll be,
With my goal in sight,
First place feels so right.

Approaching the finish line,
Eternal glory forever mine,
Applause and cheers they all will make,
Every morning this is where I wake...

Thanks Mate I appreciate it
I read this and got to thinking: the only thing a gold medal means is not that you're good, but merely that you beat the other guy; hence, in the public's eyes, your degree of skill is measured solely by the skill of an opponent--your enemy works as a guage

Cool. Just remember it's much harder to keep your title than it is to take it. As soon as you've won a match, there comes a feeling of hollowness after the victory, a void you fill up with more training--and pretty soon you realize the only opponent truly worth facing is yourself. Once that happens, trophies and titles become meaningless, and you fall in love with the art itself, rather than the fight. And that's when training truly takes off like a jet off a runway!
