Beginning of the End

Beginning of the End

A Poem by That_Guy
"

a broken heart ceases to beat

"
A hole in my chest where my heart once lay,
Despite what I do this pain won't go away,
Wounds so deep and soul left broken,
Your words remain a sorrowful token.

Down and out,
On an empty route,
My journey ends here,
With one last glistening tear.

Content to forever sleep,
Hollow inside without a peep,
The warmth now seems so distant,
Expression left cold, blank, and vacant.

No one to share,
No one to care,
I could no longer pretend,
And that proved to be,
The beginning of the end.

I like the flow of your words . . . they remind me of a gently murmuring brook in a Japanese garden. I also like the message in this poem; always guard your heart well--time has taught me that one, again and again
