Eden

Eden

A Poem by Jonathan Cadien
"

My take on the garden of Eden.

"

Naked in youth, we are all that remain of the beauty.

Lying on scorched earth, we sew the ground with our tears;

In spite and ruin, our screams echo into the empty halls of the divine.

What was once green now fades to gold;

Precious and hollow,

A desperate recollection of what was, but will never be again.

We sold heaven for this charade;

A chance to be greater than the infinite-

Mortal and bound to our choice to live;

Damned and saved to the steady beat of a broken heart.
