Ripples of Destruction

Ripples of Destruction

A Poem by Jonathan Bodnar

Can we no longer see
Are we deaf to the demons
Who so slowly eat our souls
Have we forgotten our wings
Have we abandoned our purpose
We have let our tongues speak
But left our hands at our sides.

Through clouds no longer rain falls
But through the thunder an angel calls
Truth battles in empty fields of grace
Through this battle all is lost
Church bells shatter
As countless cries are heard
Not from the weak
But the strong
We are all chained to our tears
Forced to make sense of these anomalies
We walk into this abyss of
Across this still sea
Until we reach the middle
Gathered here to watch time swarm underneath us
A single drop from the heavens
Ripples into our destruction
