The Wrecks

The Wrecks

A Poem by jollypolly2
"

Took this from a very short story that I wrote.

"

The Wrecks.

Deluged with rain

for three days,

now the road

is a river of mud.

Saturated I walk along

the road, it lights up

car headlights,

I turn and see

it suddenly swerve

mount the footpath,

flip onto its side and

slide along past me,

like a fish in death throes,

into a ditch full of water.

As it lay there upside down,

hissing, and steaming,

I run over to the window,

look at the driver, at

his half submerged body--

with unseeing eyes--

I look at the car--

both lymphatic wrecks.
