The Little Gymnast

The Little Gymnast

A Poem by jollypolly2
"

A poem for my little gymnast granddaughter.

"

The Little Gymnast.

Her body straight,

head held high,

arms out stretched

as if to fly,

she strides the beam

from end to end,

then moves with grace

and backbends.

One jump to grasp

the bar, her knees

pulled up, spine

stiff as a rod

she swings, then drops

upon the mat

as mother watches proudly,

her little acrobat.

Cart wheels, trampoline,

vaulting horse that she

leaps with ease--

coach's little prodigy.

Ribbons twirl

through the air,

dance to the music with

elegance and flair.
