Michael

Michael

A Poem by jollypolly2

Michael

Mother died of

cancer

father dead

with his own gun.

Passed around to

brother, to sister, to

brother again

with the picture of

his dead father still

in the back of his

head. He'd found him!

Two like spirits

met, Michael and my son,

friends for eternity.

He returned from

Adelaide, a brother's

place--unmanageable

he stayed with us

two recalcitrant spirits.

Wacky weed in

the cupboard

he confessed 'It's mine!'

Too much for me

find another home--

wherever he lived

he was homeless--

one motorbike

two boys

one helmet.

My son survived the

crash.

October 20 1989.

October 11 1994

the wail of a new

spirit entering the

world--his namesake,

Michael.
