Innocence Remains

Innocence Remains

A Poem by Jolie Blossom
"

I wrote this thinking about that point in your life when you want to come to terms with past mistakes, and desire the innocence you once used to have.

"
Drips of water~ please trickle down my sink
So I can splash them upon my tainted cheek
The rays of heaven~ please shine upon my face
Lead me in the right direction
To your paradise place
Oh, grant me innocence.

All helping hands~ please reach far out to me
Grab tight and give me reason to believe
Stars of the nightsky~ please rid me of my sins
Start me on a fresh path, and I will begin
Oh, grant me innocence.

Gods of the sea~ please kiss away the lies
Spread them far out across the ocean tides
Genies in your lamps~ please grant me my one wish
Lock away my mistakes, and then I'll be dismissed.
Oh, grant me innocence.

All the elderly~ please help me understand
Teach me good from evil all across the land
Brave, famous heroes~show an example to be strong
I want to keep these lessons with me, for all my life long.
Oh, don't wash me of my innocence.

A beautiful prayer. Remind me of a Native American prayer for healing and hope. Nature is the healer. The sea had been my cure for pain many times. Thank you for the amazing poem.

Really beautiful.

It could be the scene of a movie; where the protagonist stands in front of a sink and mirror, pondering what little she/he could do in the moment of now. All the racing thoughts and weeps for the meaning of his/her very life. Beauteous poem you have here.
