Backstage

Backstage

A Poem by $teph@nie <3
"

just a little poem, its about a girl who performed in a play and was waiting for her boyfriend backstage, but he never came, and never will.

"

Curtains closed

time to stop the show

a tremble threatening my painted lips

a rose in my hand

its thorns cutting deep

I cannot feel the pain

numb to all around

his seat was empty

applause filling our ears, love and cheer, all but him, he is not there smiling, praising

my hart dropped

torn when his cool hazel eyes did not find me

he sent a single rose

attached, a note of pure love, telling me he would see me

meet me back stage

my heart closing and brittle like a rusting ancient nightingales cage

he is not here, as i wait in vain

and the officer appraches, hat in hand

Im drowning, where is he, where is the precious land?

he speaks but i barley hear

a hand on my shoulder and i hear footsteps walking further away

paralyzed, unseeing and unresponsive, there i stand

the rose drops to the ground from my shaking hand

curtains closed

the show has stopped

Wow. Rather dark, but very well written. Good job!
