I Overcome

In my Womens Literature class we had to pick a first line from on of Emily Dickinsons poems, and from it create our own. I choose "A door just opened on the street-"

A door just opened on the stree-

a buseling crowd, so many to meet

wondering endlessly, lost in thought

not noticing where i walk

venturing from my home

the threshold so many steps away

but I knew i could not stay

the fear

I overcome

and venture out

and then i hear

a door opening on the street

I'm not alone
