Black Crystal

Black Crystal

A Poem by John T. Miller
"

Short poem/story of a past lover and problems.

"
I remember the places, but not the events.
You said it's what we do, though I can't remember!
Truly, I don't! Nothing since.
The past escapes me cruelly, but justly - Forever.

First and foremost, looking deeply into memories,
Your eyes could never leave me; big and beautiful.
They found me and I - them.

What began as lonely lust transformed into a care.
Something I could care about, though not understand.
Even now, the Black prevents me to explain,
Though I can recall the feelings you allowed me to bear.

You smiled; a nervous excitement. I remember that!
When we met you weren't prepared - though nor was I.
There was something that held you back.
But my state allowed no judgment and enticed you.

I am proud that I had you, though very sad,
That, so soon, I left you - hardly knowing what I had.
