Call My SisterA Poem by johntheghostOur parents get older and we are faced with decisions that no one wants to make. Call My Sister Call my sister Tell her Dad has fallen Again Broke his hip or some damn thing And I don’t know what we should do And I don’t know how we came to be the parents of our parents Every story ends here On the killing floor What a life we lead What a game to play What a crying shame Like a phone call after midnight Like a registered letter Like a lump in the throat that water will not wash away Tell her that her little brother Is just as scared as the four year old Who pissed the bed and cried in vain Begging Jesus not to kill his mother I’m afraid that no one listens I’m afraid when no one answers I’m afraid all the f*****g time Call my sister Tell her Dad has fallen Again He was drinking poison in the bathroom The nurse found him in the bathtub Broken glass and cold self pity He did not know where he was Every story ends here On the killing floor With an axe in my hand With a cross on my neck With a tear in my eye Goodbye © 2011 johntheghostAuthor's Note
