IndiscretionA Poem by johntheghostLove is not easy, not for the careless and selfish.Indiscretion I left her High and dry Strung out on lack of affection Without compassion I left her Without a why Twenty years imploded Exploded like a balloon Done in by a wayward erection An unguarded moment A lapse of instruction Passionate challenges tend to overwhelm me Unhinge my intellect Dismantle my foundation Bedrock bottom Could have been a contender Instead of an emotional bender A relapse of reason A heartless affair God survives in shadows The curves of a woman cure me of principle Her vessel was flawless Performed beautifully I asked her method She arranged an exhibition The moment was stunning But moments pass quickly Reality is reality Truth be told Sex won’t heal a restless heart Any more than trust can mend a broken one She left me In the heat of the summer Like hot bourbon on an empty stomach I cannot contain such bitterness I let go of the anger at me At her At her At me At her All for no reason No comfort No peace No relief No lesson from the second kick from a mule No school No guru No sponsor She left me To wonder If I could be different Change unlike the seasons Not repeat old patterns Act out on impulse Instinct is not intuition Intuition is smarter More focused More reliable in the long view More humble I left her Or She left me Depending on whom you talk to Her friends are liars Mine are indifferent I am making my way Back to the beginning Regrets anonymous I hope you are healthy Whole and inspired I feel sick Shattered and tired I am a long way from where I want to be But I am moving forward Onward and upward Like an ancient explorer Lost but too proud to admit it Dead but still fighting Hopeful on the outside Empty inside A contradiction of conceits A confederacy of dunces Me and Ignatius Chasing Don Quixote Past the windmills of my mind Indiscretion lacks valor No honor in thievery Faith holds value In this time of restless angels Pray for peace © 2011 johntheghostAuthor's Note
