"

Saying goodbye on a sad anniversary.

Breakfast in a bar on MacDougal near Bleeker

Bloody Marys

I giggle despite my mood

Extra celery

Celery is excellent for me

My eyes squint into September sunshine

Walking south

Nauseous

Emotional

Avoiding pedestrian eyes like a good New Yorker

Sixth Avenue morphs into Avenue of the Americas

Who’s Americas?

Yours?

Mine?

His?

Hers?

Ours?

Past Canal Street

Franklin

Chambers

West Broadway dead ends at Barclay

I make my way to Vessey

Chain link fences lined with flowers

Homemade cards

Wounded survivors

Tears fall

“I miss you”

I mumble

Turn and walk back toward the Village
