Ripples
I was strugglingwith a loverI was cryingfor a child I was laughing ‘bout the distance ‘tween the raindrops and the cloud I was moving through the drama when I stumbled ‘cross a friend he said everything you say and do comes back to you in the end Throw the stone In the water Let the ripples go Captain Nemo searched the ocean but he never found his peace Captain Ahab found a lover but he lost her to his disease Albert Ryder was a painter born in New of Mass slopping several coats of primer on the ocean won’t make it last Throw the stone In the water Let the ripples go
Fiction writers make it easy to believe in all the lies Dante saves me Shakespeare bores me Fitzgerald opens up my eyes I was born in a library I was strangled by a thought I’ve been accused of making use of my excuses and regrets Throw the stone In the water Let the ripples go Like a lover I am hungry like a loner I am shy like a line called the horizon I may never need to reach the sky Touch my finger tell my story take the long way if you can there is never a good reason to deny the man that I am Throw the stone In the water Let the ripples go © 2011 johntheghostAuthor's Note
